Khurshed & Nilufar

August 28, 2026 Dushanbe, Tajikistan

Our Story

We are getting married, and we could not imagine celebrating without you.

Our wedding unfolds during Aug 22 – Aug 28 in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. But before the celebrations begin, we want to share something even more special with you: the country we call home.

We invite you to arrive from August 22 so we can take you on an adventure through alpine lakes, ancient Silk Road fortresses, and mountain landscapes that will take your breath away. This is more than a wedding – it is a journey.

Discover Tajikistan

The Week in Tajikistan, a day-by-day guide from your arrival to the wedding.

23 – 28 August · 2026

The Way There

Seven days across Tajikistan from your arrival to the wedding. Travel them, one at a time.

A coloured relief map of Tajikistan, its mountains and valleys, the country you will travel across this week.

Day 01

Choygashtak

Breakfast, a walk around the city center, and Choygashtak, a Tajik pre-wedding celebration in the evening.

Coloured-pencil illustration of a Tajik bride in traditional dress for Choygashtak, a deep-red embroidered gown with ikat and floral patterns, a long flowing veil, and gold-trimmed slippers.

Day 02

Greenwood House

Continue exploring the city, followed by dinner at Greenwood House.

Day 03

Into the Valleys

Norak · Varzob · Romit

A day in the mountains exploring Tajikistan’s nature. We’ll take a boat ride on the Norak reservoir, one of the tallest dams in the world.

Coloured-pencil illustration of the Norak reservoir, a turquoise lake held between bare brown mountains above a hydroelectric dam.

Day 04

Iskanderkul

A trip to Iskanderkul, a turquoise alpine lake nestled in the Fan Mountains. We will do a short hike around the lake.

Coloured-pencil illustration of Iskanderkul, a turquoise alpine lake cradled by rugged tan-and-grey mountains, with a leafy tree and rocky shore in the foreground.

Day 05

Nikkah

The Nikkah takes place this evening. In Islam, the Nikkah is the official marriage contract, a simple and sacred ceremony where the bride and groom formally consent to the union in the presence of witnesses. It is the moment we become husband and wife.

Coloured-pencil illustration of the Nikkah, a veiled bride, the groom, and an officiant signing at a table, with henna-painted hands.

Day 06

The Wedding

The Tuy, our main wedding celebration. In Tajik tradition, the Tuy is a grand feast bringing together family and friends for a night of music, dancing, and table after table of food. This is the big one.

Coloured-pencil illustration of the Tuy, wedding guests in traditional Tajik dress, from ikat coats to a gold-embroidered crimson gown, dancing in a ring around the veiled bride in her white gown.

Come hungry.

A sneak peek at the food waiting for you. We will eat a lot.
Here is a taste of what is coming.
